The Emperor's New School is a Disney Channel original series based on the 2000 Disney movie, The Emperor's New Groove. It ran from January 27th, 2006 to November 20th, 2008.
Plot[]
The series takes place in an ancient Aztec kingdom, which used to be ruled over by the self-centered high school dropout Emperor Kuzco. However, Kuzco has since then been temporarily dethroned, as he's been told that he's not allowed to be emperor again until he finished high school. The series follows Kuzco as he makes his way through Kuzco Academy and reclaims his title as emperor. There, he is friends with people like his love interest and voice of reason, Malina and his best friend and sycophant, Guaka.
No longer allowed to live in his massive empire, Kuzco has been taken in by a family of common villagers, led by humble sheep-herding patriarch, Pacha and his hard-working housewife, Chicha. There, Kuzco learns what life is like for a lowly peasant who doesn't have a ton of wealth like him and he learns to be more caring and sympathetic for people lesser than himself.
Kuzco's plans to become emperor are often hindered by Yzma, a vile and sinister woman who's second-in-line to becoming the empress and wants Kuzco out of the picture so she can rule the kingdom herself, and Kronk, her dim-witted henchman who also goes to Kuzco Academy, where he's friends with Kuzco and often tricks him into drinking Yzma's potions, which usually turn him into different kinds of animals, which are supposed to stop him from graduating high school. However, these plans usually backfire and blow up in Yzma's face.
